Samantha Felthouse: Lab Member 2011 to 2012
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Surrey studying Psychology. I am currently on my placement year at the Insititute of Education, supervised by Emily Farran.
At the moment, I am assisting a project exploring error patterns in participants’ comprehension and production of spatial language terms. The chosen spatial terms have been picked because they demonstrate the difference between ages of acquired spatial terms; for example a child will acquire the understanding of the word 'on' before they acquire understanding for the terms 'left/right'. This project is looking at the child's understanding of spatial terms and their comprehension of these spatial terms.
I hope to run my own project later in the year based on research that language bolsters spatial understanding in children.
